Description: | Circa 1907 Cabinet - George Alexander Huff - Boston Red Sox Manager / Scout - University of Illinois Baseball and Football Athletics Pioneer. Huff was the captain of the University of Illinois baseball team in the 1890s and later accepted a job with the Red Sox as a scout and even managed 8 games in the 1907 season. He was a strong evaluator of talent signing Red sox superstars Tris Speaker and Joe Wood among many others. He later returned to his alma mater as a coach for 24 years coaching first baseball and then football along with Bob Zupke in its pioneer days. The cabinet is in very nice condition and grades VG to VG/EX overall. It is a bit oversized and was too large to be slabbed by SGC in their oversized holders. |
