| Description: | This auction is for a 1889 Goodwin Cabinet Proof of the Omaha Minor Leaguer - John Leighton. Leighton did not actually play for Omaha and his known N173 Cabinet is from a different pose than this card; however this pose was used for one of his standard N172 examples. This leads us to believe that this is a proof card that was left out of the N173 set. The card consists of a 3 7/8" x 5 1/2" photo affixed to an anonymous thick, yellow mount, that displays period pencil writing on the reverse along with evidence of the mount having been glued into an album at some point. The photo shows a clear, well-registered image and neither the mount or the actual photo show any signs of paper loss. |
